Empire calandabra

A pair of gilded and patinated bronze candlesticks, featuring a winged Cupid.

The Cupid stands on a sphere and holds a torch, which is surrounded by three curved candle holders.

The arms are decorated with flowers and curling foliage and are symmetrically arranged around the central shaft, which is crowned by a flame.

The Cupid with the sphere is supported by a vase-shaped pedestal decorated with scales and palmettes, which rests on a square base.

France, Empire period, circa 1820.
