A pair of ormolu bronze and patineted Empire candle sticks
This set of fine Empire candlesticks is rare in both form and design
The fire-gilded and patinated bronze is finely engraved with vine tendrils and floral motifs.
Beautifully executed caryatid heads – three in this case – support the candle holders.
With the original bobeches.
France or Russia.
Empire period, circa 1810.
Virtually identical candlesticks were sold at Christie’s in Monaco on 15 June 1997, lot 136, for €52,213.-
