Dutch oak five-panel chest.

The panels give the effect of extra depth, because of the glued, bevelled edges. The profiling scraped out of the frame also enhances that effect.

The sides are simpler with a two-panel frame.

On the center pillar of the side panels the usual wrought iron, pear shaped handles are attached. Original lock and key.

The chest is in original condition and has a nice old patina.

Circa 1620 - 1650

Provenance: Museum het oude gasthuis in Delft.
