A French Empire jug and basin set

The front of the jug is painted with a large scene, surrounded by a gold frame in relief, with musicians in the taste of Teniers David the Younger.
 
The reverse is very finely decorated with Empire motifs on a brown background.
 
The bowl is also decorated with two scenes with animals, in the taste of Ommegank Balthazar Paul with finely painted Empire furniture on brown background.
 
Below the jug marked in blue.

This pair is a high quality example of the production made by the atelier Locré
 
The lampet set is the forerunner of the washbasin. 
 
When there was no running water, the lampet set was used in the bath or bedroom.
