Famille Rose potpourri set.

A very nicely decorated Famille Rose potpourri set with a performance of "Long Elizas" admiringly looking from a pavilion and terrace to a river with blossoming lotus flowers.

The jug is made after the European example of a silver or pottery jug with a flat lid and triangular spout. The garlands of flowers on the rim and lid also point to that influence.

For example, rose petals or citrus peels were placed in the jar with the lid, poured with oil  from the jug for a more intense scent.

Famille Rose, Yongzheng 1723 - 1735.
